CHRONICLE MILL

Belmont, NC

Chronicle Mill was originally constructed in 1902 on a 6-1/2 acre site along the Norfolk Southern Railroad line in historic downtown Belmont, NC. West Depot Architecture was approached by Metrocology, out of Beaufort, SC, to partner on the redevelopment of this fantastic site.

Respecting the mill’s historic and architectural value, the owners decided to make it the cornerstone of a vibrant, eclectic center of commerce and entertainment for downtown Belmont, NC. Portions of the building still retain the original heart pine decking, maple floors, timber beam structure and exposed brick walls. Painstaking steps are being taken to preserve as many of the original architectural details as possible, keeping the mill’s legacy alive – and creating a place that blends perfectly with the timeless appeal of Belmont.

Restaurants, distilleries, event spaces, an outdoor amphitheater, retail stores and commercial office space are some of the owner’s goals in this 140,000 square foot renovation.
